Broken Hearted….

Today I am reading in A MORE EXCELLENT WAY,  in Fear, Stress, and Physiology on page 201.  As fear and anxiety are moving inside you, hormones are released to the  a (alpha) and B (beta) receptors and all parts of your body are affected.  Your body starts attacking everything and changing.  Your body is being forced to do something they were not designed to do.

The next section is Cardiovascular System. Angina is caused by fear.  Luke 21:26 says “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things with are coming on the Earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”. Diseases such as angina, hypertension, arrhythmias and mitral valve prolapse are listed and consideration fear, anxiety and stress diseases by the medical community.

So as life happens how do we put this knowledge to practice.  What happens when your heart is broken?   I know it is a process that I have to practice what I preach.  When your heart is broken, God has given us tears for cleansing.  It doesn’t do any good to just stuff it.  I am very good at distracting myself from what it hurtful.   But then I wake up in the middle of the night or in the morning and guess what is the first thing that I think about?   So how do I get rid of the broken heartedness?

I go to God.  “Cast all your cares upon him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).  When I am broken hearted. When I am mad.  When I am overwhelmed.  Yes, anytime I don’t have peace,  I run to God.  As I get ready in the morning, I go to the gym, I shower & get dressed, eat breakfast and I read God’s word and pray.  As I give all my concerns to God, he takes them and handles them.  And friends, I DON’T take it back.  I leave it at the feet of Jesus.  I can have peace.  So as you remember what fear does to our bodies, take care of how you handle it so you too can “BE IN HEALTH”.
