Dependency

Today I read out of Titus 1 in the Message, “For there are a lot of rebels out there, full of loose, confusing, and deceiving talk.  Those who were brought up religious and ought to know better are the worst. They’ve got to be shut up. They’re disrupting entire families with their teaching, and all for the sake of a fast buck.”  Then skipping a few to: “Everything is clean to the clean-minded; nothing is clean to the dirty-minded unbelievers. They leave their dirty fingerprints on every thought and act. They say they know God, but their actions speak louder than their words.  They’re really creeps, disobedient good-for-nothings.”   Wow. Certainly doesn’t mince any words.  It is only through God’s word that we can be clean-minded.  Interesting prophecy is being fulfilled right now.
This section of THE ROADLESS TRAVELED, Peck is talking about Dependency.  He says, When you require another individual for your survival, you are a parasite on the individual.  Love is a free exercise of choice. Two people love each other only when they are quite capable of lifting without each other but choose to live with each other.  Passive dependent people lack self-discipline. They are unwilling or unable to delay gratification of their hunger for attention.  They are endlessly angry, because they can’t find someone who will fulfill all their needs or “make” them happy.
A healthy person will strive to be a person worthy of love.  A healthy couple will train themselves for survival in the event of the loss of the the other.  A good marriage can exist only between two strong and independent people.
Good things to think on…..

Reading your article helped me a lot and I agree with you. But I still have some doubts, can you clarify for me? I’ll keep an eye out for your answers.
