Where Does Peace Come From?

Today I am reading Where Does Peace Come From? pages 126 – 129 from A MORE EXCELLENT WAY. True peace comes from God. 1 Thessalonians 5:23, John 14:27, Isaiah 26:3.

What does it mean to be wholly”. W-h-o-l-l- y sanctified?  Sanctification means holiness, H-o-l-y. First Thessalonians 5:23 is saying, “May the Good of peace make you Holly, H-o-l-y, so that you can be made whole, w-h-o-l-e.”. No holiness….no wholeness, includes spirit, soul, body.  The wholeness approach is the sanctification of the human spirit [spirit]; the renewal of the human mind [soul]; and the healing of the mobile home [body].

When we are doers of the word, we will be free and have peace.  Deuteronomy 28: 1-2 “And it shall come to pass…..and all these blessing shall come on the, and overtake the….” There is not one disease mentioned here. To not have a disease is a blessing.   Deuteronomy 28:15 says if you do not hearing unto he voice of the Lord that God, then all these curses shall come upon you.” Everything from the biological and psychological disease…to losing your house…to forclosure…to divorces…to hemorrhoids…is listed as a result of not being a doer of the word.

Jesus paid the penalty for all sin at the cross but that doesn’t mean everyone is saved. It is our responsibility to appropriate it. Willfully continueing in our sin after the knowledge of the truth, we crucify Christ all over again.  It is our responsibility to not sin. 1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”Cleansing us is helping us to not want to sin.  It is still our choice.  God wants obedience.

Interesting that what I am reading is that every bad thing is a curse from not being a doer of the Word.  If we are a doer of the word we will be free of those curses.  Again we have to go back to our relationship with God.  Forgive and have no resentment and fear or unforgiveness. That is what gives us peace and in return wholeness.  God is so good.
